March 16, 2003 Fly fishing report for the watauga and south holston rivers

Hello everyone. After a very cold January and a cold, wet February, we are back to fishing several times a week.

The South Holston is still running water pretty much 24hrs a day, but the Watauga has been off on the weekends and afternoons.

We have been taking and booking trips since the first of March. April is the beginning of the best insect hatches of the year, and my weekends are booking up for the next few months. This should be a great year for trout fishing here in East Tennessee.

The small streams have plenty of water and provide great fishing at this time. There are BWOs and blue quills hatching, and also a few caddis have started on the warm sunny days. The fishing should only get better as the year goes on.

If you would like to book a trip, give us a call or email me. Book your fly fishing trip ASAP to be sure you get the days you want. I look foward to seeing everyone again this year and will keep you up to date as the year goes on.
